Oceans Alive – Environmental Defense

Nothing says summer like a trip to the beach. And of course fish and seafood are great eating all year round. Before you head to the coast or fire up the barbie, go check out the outstanding website Oceans Alive http://www.oceansalive.org produced by Environmental Defense (formerly known as the Evironmental Defense Fund).

You’ll find an amazing array of information there on coastal ecology, eco-friendly fish buying tips, and yummy recipes. See especially website sections on “Best and Worst Seafood Choices” and “Consumption Advisories: Fish to Avoid”. The “Explore the Depths” section offers a great set of information resources about the current state of health of the oceans.

New and ImprovedMLA

Literary scholars will be happy to learn EBCOHost recently added 36 additional years of research to MLA International Bibliographythe database for literature, modern language, linguistics, and folklore. Previously, coverage began in 1963; however, the added retrospective content provides bibliographic access to a wide array of historical resources that were once searchable only in the print index. Having access to information from 1926 to the present is truly remarkable, and I was excited to find material on Zora Neale Hurston that had not surfaced in any other database or index in the past!!!

Remember you can get alerts from any EBSCOHost database. Call or email the library for more information on MLA or how to sign up for alert notification.
